Shopping Day

I really needed to get out of the house today, it was just one of those days. I didn't have any important errands to run, though I did have to mail a package to an Etsy customer, so I went thrift store browsing. I hit two of the local thrift stores, St. Vincent de Paul where I spent all of $3.00 on 3 small decorative items, and Goodwill where I spent $7.00 on a "Alabama" plate and a small gnome. Before I headed home I had to stop at the local Target store where I found an adorable straw picnic basket. My daughter has been looking for one just like it for a while now so I bought it for her. Now that I am back home I think I will continue my shopping on-line. Some of my favorite etsy shops are coffeeandcream.etsy.com, considerthelillies.etsy.com, thelillyofthevalley.etsy.com, thecozynest.etsy.com. Also on Artfire check out www.fr8rain.artfire.com. This shop has commerical grade elastic and lace.

I recently joined a guild on Artfire called 'Shops With Less Than 5 Sales', that is how I stumbled upon Origami by SiSi. This shop has some very interesting pieces, all origami. I purchased a pair of earrings called "Halloween Candy" and I received them this past weekend. I couldn't be any happier with my purchase, the earrings are perfect. I am amazed at the construction of the piece especially because it is so small. This is definitely a shop worth checking out.

How Often Does This Happen?

How many times have you been on the road when someone makes a stupid move that nearly causes an accident? Is there ever a cop around when that happens? Not usually! Sunday, while driving on Interstate 75, a woman switched lanes without looking and nearly ran us off the road. Luckily there was no one in the lane next to us so an accident was averted. After catching my breathe I turned to see if the woman even realized what she had done. She didn't seem to have a clue but she was about to find out. Lights started flashing behind her, she was being pulled over. I witnessed first hand, how good it felt to have a cop around when you needed him.

New Kitten

Hubby and I decided to adopt a gray kitten that was living in our yard. We brought her (I think its a her) in before the rain and she took to the house immediately. She used the litter box without any hesitation and already seems to be a lap cat, purring contently whether on my lap or hubby's. We haven't named her yet, unable to decide between a few. So far we have come up with Sabrina, Stormy, or Cloud. I am not too crazy about Cloud, but it might be a good name if she turns out to be a he. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Happy To Be Home...

but exhausted. I had approximately 80 boxes that were sitting in my living room, kitchen and dining room. This has convinced me that I have accumulated way too much 'stuff' and I need to start purging. Could be having a big yard sale come mid June (it will probably take me that long to unpack all the boxes). The movers were finished unpacking and out of here by noon. We worked the rest of the day unpacking boxes and have hardly made a dent.

We did get the T.V.s set up and part of my craft/computer room set up. And we do get to sleep in our own bed tonight which I am looking forward to(though hubby didn't make it to the bedroom before conking out). One good thing about having to move out for the 'fix' was having empty rooms to repaint and and install new flooring. Both Chriss and I couldn't bring ourselves to paint over the wall in the craft room though(my grandson, Jesse's old room). Even though they moved over 6 years ago, Dora, Blue, and Bob the Builder remain. Besides, Sophia loves Dora now, so we have to keep her around a little longer.

Moving Home

After living in the local Holiday Inn for the past three weeks I am more than ready to be back in my own home. This Friday is moving day. Though once back in my house the work of unpacking everything will be tedious, I am still excited to be going home. The sinkhole is supposed to be fixed now....though it was supposed to be fixed last year also when they grouted. Recently a sinkhole opened up in Spring Hill and swallowed part of a home. The home was in the process of getting grouted but it was just a little too late. Luckily the people were not home when their house started to come apart and sink into the ground. A sinkhole is a scary thing to have and after seeing this home, at the first sign of another crack, or other evidence that my home is not fixed I will be out of there.

New Jewelry Pieces

Even though I am inconvenienced by my 'sinkhole fix' I have still been able to work on some pieces. It seems that I have not been sleeping too well at the local Holiday Inn Express, so my late nights have been spent creating some new earrings and necklaces. My days are filled with running errands and running back and forth to my house to check on the workers and the progress being made. Yesterday, while drilling in the master bathroom they hit a water pipe. When I went to the house I found a plumber repairing the pipe and a huge gaping whole in my bathroom floor. Other than the water pipe incident things seem to be going pretty smoothly and the main part of the 'fix' is almost over. I am hoping to be able to move back into my house within the next 2 weeks.
